Australia is full of remarkable living things and fascinating places. There's even more to discover when you explore with people who share your curiosity.

Welcome

Everyone can be a field naturalist

Do you enjoy a walk in the bush, watching birds, identifying wildflowers, discovering fungi or simply wondering what lives around you? Then field naturalism could be for you.

Across Australia, field naturalist clubs bring together people of all backgrounds and experience levels to explore, observe, learn and enjoy nature. You don't need specialist knowledge or expensive equipment — just curiosity.

A closer look

Nature is more interesting when we explore it together.

From the tiniest fungi to soaring eucalypts, every excursion offers a chance to notice something new. Field naturalists share their discoveries and help each other develop an understanding of the places we love.
